weirdfish is a small design practice based in Eugene, Oregon, working across residential design, renovations, additions, permitting, visualization, and architectural support.

Projects can begin at many different stages — from an early idea that needs to be tested to an existing design that needs drawings, visualization, or help getting through permitting. Services are tailored to the needs of each project.

residential design

Design for new homes, ADUs, additions, and renovations. Work can range from early concepts and feasibility through design development and permit documentation, with an emphasis on thoughtful spaces, natural light, materiality, and the way a home is actually lived in.

additions + renovations

Design for projects that rethink or expand an existing home. This can include interior renovations, additions, reconfigured floor plans, exterior improvements, and working through the constraints and opportunities of an existing building.

ADUs + small-scale housing

Design and documentation for detached and attached ADUs, backyard cottages, and other forms of small-scale residential development. Services can include feasibility, site planning, design, visualization, and permit drawings.

permit drawings

Clear, coordinated drawing sets for residential construction and permitting. This can include documenting existing conditions, site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and coordination with local permitting requirements.

feasibility + code research

Early research to understand what can be built before committing to a larger design effort. This may include zoning and development standards, setbacks, lot coverage, allowable building area, ADU requirements, and conversations with local planning and building departments.

architectural visualization

3D modeling, renderings, diagrams, and virtual reality experiences that help clients understand a project before it is built. Visualization can be provided as part of a weirdfish project or as a standalone service for architects, designers, contractors, and developers.

drafting + design support

Additional architectural support for firms, contractors, and other design professionals. Services can include Revit modeling, existing-condition documentation, drawing production, design development, renderings, diagrams, and presentation graphics.
